Yessica Pinales is a second year student at St. John’s University School of Law. She is the National Chair of the National Latina/o Law Student Association (NLLSA). Yessica is a junior staff member of the New York Real Property Law Journal. She is also the student representative for the Banking Law Committee of New York City Bar Association.
Yessica began law school as a part-time evening student, working full-time as a Branch Manager at Bank of America. During her six-year tenure, Yessica held the distinction of being one of the youngest female managers in the company. Outside of her daily work responsibilities, Yessica sat on the leadership board of the company’s Hispanic/Latino Employee Network group. As a leader of the Employee Network group, she championed and advocated for employees and client’s diversity initiatives. Through the implementation of diversity recruiting strategies and professional development programming, she helped influence and elevate Bank of America’s diversity talent.
Yessica received her Bachelor of Arts from the University at Albany. While attending SUNY Albany, she spearheaded and coordinated various events and activities that promoted diversity and inclusion. Yessica also served as a scholar of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Though Yessica was raised in Brooklyn, NY, she takes pride in the cultural values of her native homeland, the Dominican Republic. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Yessica continues to devote her time to support and improve access and retention of underrepresented students. She also actively volunteers in law school recruitment events, while also serving as a panelist on various forums.
